Network Talk: July 2009

It’s the middle of winter in Australia and it’s always an exciting time of year. June is the end of the financial year, and I’m pleased to announce that the Lifestyle PodNetwork achieved a cost-neutral status for the year to June 2009.  This means that our business model of supporting our free podcasts with premium content is working.  A big thank you to everyone who purchased our premium content during the year for giving it a try-out.  We hope you enjoyed it. And of course, I’d also like to thank our premium hosts this year: Jessica Adams, Antonella Gambotto-Burke and Jane Teresa Anderson for coming on board and trying out the premium model.

Australia has gone mad this year with Masterchef Australia receiving over 4 million viewers for it’s final TV episode of the series. At least in Australia, the interest in cooking well is at an all time high.  I’m pleased to announce a new premium show that is in production by The Renaissance Gourmet – Angela Tunner.  We are hoping to be able to bring you details for a new series that will really change the way you look at cooking forever.  Angela hails from Canada and is an exciting new addition to the network.

In the meantime, check out this neat trailer for her cookbook Simply Summer

The Two Schooners podcast had a fun meetup in Sydney this month.  I met with Dave Gray, my other co-host for the show this month for a beer or three at the Bavarian Bier Cafe with some of our listeners.  You can hear about the meetup and see the pictures on our special episode on the Two Schooners website.

You will have noticed some changes to the website and show websites this month.  We hope that our new website will make finding our shows easier.  We’ve split it into two main sections Free and Premium content so you can easily find the content you are looking for, and we’ve added a search so you can simply type the show you’re looking for and get immediate results.

Expect more new shows, and great content in 2009/10. Last month we signed 5 new show hosts and we’re in the process of bringing all those shows to the network in coming months.  And if you’d like to become a host, then please get in contact.  Visit our Host a Show page for more information, and contact us using our Host Enquiry form.

Have a great month and happy listening!
James

Network Talk: June 2009

Network Talk: June 2009

As we head towards the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere we welcomed two new shows to the Lifestyle PodNetwork.

The In Denial Health Show

The first is a brand new health show called The In Denial Health Show with Sally Lakeman. This show is for everyone who knows they should be exercising and taking better care of themselves, but doesn’t know where to start or find the time.

Sally demystifies the process of taking care of you as opposed to taking care of your chores, and works to solve life’s little problems, and freeing up your time to enjoy life more.

The In Denial Health Show is on fortnightly rotation on the Lifestyle PodNetwork and you can find out more about the show on the blog at http://indenialhealth.com

The Mountain Bike Show

We also welcome Travis Deane and his very successful MTB Show to the Lifestyle PodNetwork. After a couple of months of negotiations, we have finally secured the show as part of our network line up.

Travis has constantly grown his show audience and the show has been featured prominently in the iTunes store and continues to grow in popularity. We look forward to a strong relationship with the show as we move forward.

You can find more information about the MTB Show on the podcast page of this site.

Astrology goes monthly

Psychic Astrology MonthlyAustralian globally renowned astrologer Jessica Adams has been producing Psychic Astrology Weekly for more than six months now. This weekly show has proved very popular amongst our audience.

Due to personal commitments and schedules, Jessica is transitioning the show to a longer more in-depth monthly format. So there’s more show to enjoy each time it comes out.

As usual it will unwrap the headlines and show where astrology pointed to what is happening in the world around us. It’s an interesting show.

Our Hosts’ Dreams Revealed

This month Jane Teresa Anderson’s The Dream Show rolled out two episodes featuring Lifestyle PodNetwork personalities. James Williams and Dave Gray from Podcasters’ Emporium and Two Schooners both had their dreams interpreted on The Dream Show, and you may just be surprised at what was said. You can find these in Episodes 10 and 11 of The Dream Show released this June.

Jane Teresa Anderson, who has only been with the network is encouraging people to email her with dreams if you’d like them interpreted on the show.

Please email us at thedreamshow@lifestylepodnetwork.com. It’s simple to take part: I phone you at the appointed time – wherever you are in the world – and we recrd the conversation for the podcast. It takes about 10-15 minutes of your time. Your contribution to the show helps other people understand their dreams, and you receive a free interpretation, and you get to replay the podcast as often as you wish to really absorb your interpretation.

Show Meet-ups

On Friday July 10th, James Williams and Dave Gray of Podcasters’ Emporium and Two Schooners will be holding an Australian meetup in Sydney. The Event will be held at the Bavarian Bier Cafe at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park Sydney, and it will be a great opportunity to come along and meet the hosts of these two popular shows. Depending on availability Dave and James will be available on Sunday for specific Podcaster questions, and questions about joining the Lifestyle PodNetwork. If you are interested, please join us at the Bavarian Bier Cafe from about 7pm on 10 July and follow us on Twitter for updates.

Jack Steel and the Starblade back in production

We hear from Chris the producer of this series that a second series of the podcast is being written and should hopefully be released in September 2009. On the podcast series facebook page Chris writes: “Well, we’ve come to the unanimous decision that Series 2 of Squadron Leader Jack Steel and the Starblade will be done, looking to start writing now-ish, recording and editing around June for a release in September this year.”

Growing Premium Content Audience

Our Lifestyle PodNetwork premium content continues to be popular with our audiences. In particular the year-long horoscope series from Jessica Adams is getting great reviews from those who purchase it. Some have even gone as far to purchase the whole set for their friends and family to enjoy.

We are continuing to explore new and exciting, extended, premium content for you to enjoy on the Lifestyle PodNetwork in 2009 and beyond.

New Shows coming up

We are in discussions with a number of show producers for audio and video content to be released on the network in coming months. We are hopeful that we can secure a new food, cooking and lifestyle show and also some new business shows in coming months – adding to our growing line up of Lifestyle programming.

If you are interested in becoming a part of the network, even if you don’t have a podcast right now, then please get in contact with us. We’d love to talk to you.

Thanks for enjoying our shows!
