Our Selection Process

Some shows are invited to join LPN, while others approach LPN for consideration.  Both of these approaches are encouraged because it gives us a greater diversity of programs for our listeners to choose from. For those shows who are invited to join – they have been screened for network fit.

We’re raising the bar at the Lifestyle PodNetwork – we want to be the best independent podcast network.

Here’s what we are looking for:

1. Shows with a clearly defined show plan and audience niche
   Share the story of  what your show is about and why it appeals to your audience.
    
2. 12 months of consistent, regularly produced shows
   Demonstrate that your podcasts have been produced regularly over a 12 month period.
    
3. A high performing, high quality website – regular uptime and high performance
   Make sure your website is working well and has a good response time.
    
4. An engaged listener community, and a participatory culture
   We should be able to see comments on your site, and hear you talking about them in your shows.
    
5. More than 250 subscribers or downloads per episode
   We’ll be able to see this in your website or podcast download statistics.
    
6. A willingness to actively participate in the LPN listener community 
   When you join we ask to you play LPN idents and show promos on your podcast, and contribute to our website and community forums.

LPN then takes time to consider each application. Once accepted, we’ll ask you to read and sign a podcaster agreement outlining our terms and conditions.  This agreement contains the game plan, outlining who does what, and how we work well together.

With a signed agreement, we start building your site and we provision your hosting space.  We also provide you assistance to migrate your existing show and episodes to LPN.

What if my show is not selected for inclusion in LPN?

We consider things like values fit, diversity, inclusive and production standards when we consider fit for the network. If we choose not to include your show we will chat with you about possible future options.  This chat may include suggestions for technical improvement, your format, consistency, or the way you engage with your audience.

At this point you decide what steps you’d like to take – and we will work out how we can help you make improvements.  Some hosts may opt out of the process at this stage, and this is fine.
