Mike Suszek is a game fan and reviewer.
He looks at games from the perspective of will he enjoy playing it. He’s publishing a brand new podcast on the Lifestyle PodNetwork called Modern Game Player.
In the podcast’s first episode Mike talks about his philosophy about game reviews and how they are skewed by marketing. According to Mike, the biggest problem that reviews have today is that there’s a lot of marketing involved.
“When a website lands an early release of a game, it always seems that the game gets a really good review,” Mike explains.
“A game is going to remembered for the legacy it leaves behind. Mario 3 knows what a great game it is from their own experience, not from the reviews that were written about it,” he adds.
Each episode Mike examines the gaming industry in collaboration with gamers and industry enthusiasts.
Sounding more like a well-produced documentary than a podcast, Modern Game Player has great production values and talks about the industry rather than your average game review podcast.
Gamers and industry professionals are invited to participate in the program by contributing online or via the show’s voicemail line, and everyone is asked to actively participate in the show via these channels.
James Williams from the Lifestyle PodNetwork is really pleased to have Modern Game Player on the network.
“This creates a whole new style of show for the network, and opens up a brand new network segment,” explains James.
“It builds on the great foundation of role-playing game podcasts like Zlurpcast, as well as complementary genres like Anime and Scifi.”
